Siblings

While in college, I was working on a project for one of my photo classes, and portfolio. I showed them to my mom and was given my first commission. Unfortunately, it took me 15+ years to start it. Sorry, Mom! Two Christmases ago I decided I wanted to take on the project. This is not a small project, as I have 9 siblings. One of them has passed away, and several of us live scattered around the US, and occasionally the world. I had the 1st five montages ready for Christmas. I finished one more a few months later. I am going to shoot my brother’s portrait in August in TN (I’m so excited!) and I will be doing my own some time this summer. My goal is to have them all finished by Christmas this year and have them hanging in my parents house, the way my mother envisioned.

The exact project changed, as I have changed and grown as an artist, however, I have had so much fun with it. I love all my brothers and sisters, but as I’ve tried to explore who they are, I’ve found that I have gotten to know and love them even better. It has been an honor to see them through my lens, and I hope I can do justice to my mother’s vision.
