The beginning of Shopping/Contacting

Happy October!!!!  I love this month so much!  We’re not quite up to this magic month in the journal yet, but that just means I’ll get two, right?

Mail was what kept us going on long days of tracting/street contacting.  I craved communication from home! This first letter did not quench my thirst.  From then on the mail check was an everyday experience.  Each day that we found the box not empty was a reason to celebrate.

Today was a cool day!  Yay!  I got a letter from Dad today.  My first letter from home since I’ve been in Slovenia.  It was so cool, too!  I could sum it up or I could just read it.  That sounds better.  This morning we went to the rest home and dusted their library.  It was pretty cool.  They had a lot of John Steinbeck translated into Slovene.  Then we came back and got ready for the rest of the day and week.  We met Mateja at 4:00 at the Center, and went shopping.  I found two, well actually one dress, and one skirt that I’m buying tomorrow.  Prices are so expensive here and they have no clue what a 2nd hand store is.  But finally we found this place that was a lot cheaper.  The skirt is 3000 tolars and the dress is 3500 tolars.  That together is about $65.00.  Sounds like a lot, I know, but that is cheaper than most dresses by themselves here.  There are tons of cool shoes here though.  i love it!  Of course money is the problem.  that’s okay, though, because that’s not what I’m here for.  Anyway, hopefully we can meet with Mateja on Thursday or Friday, and teach her a fourth discussion.  We went and visited Tanja tonight.  She’s awesome!  That’s all I have to say.

At the time of my mission, I LOVED thrift shopping!  To be honest, I still do.  I know that $65 doesn’t sound like a lot for two skirts anymore, but 20 years ago it was jaw dropping for this frugal girl.  I actually wore those two dresses and shoes completely out.  I loved them so much.  Later we learned to call that shopping/contacting.

This was such an amazing day!  Have you ever seen someone actually change before your eyes?  This day was the beginning of that for Anka.  I was so blessed to be able to watch the light start to shine through her eyes.

Yes!  Anka committed to pray about the Book of Mormon, Joseph Smith, and the church.  She is really scared to pray for herself.  She says she wants to pray for faith but she doesn’t have the faith to pray.

We’ve seen so many American things today.  Weird, how ironic.  We even saw a New York license plate.

10:30-Lahko noc.  P-day- ultimate frisbee tomorrow.
