Sometimes there’s just so much…

Ok, I know I’m trying to get through all of these tonight, but this is such a long journal entry, I can’t possibly put more than one entry on this post.

17 Oct. 1995

Hello!  I don’t know what to write.  Wait, I’m now getting a flood of ideas.  That’s the trick, you see. Say you don’t know, then out of nowhere, tons of things flood your mind.

We just got home from the most unorganized English class in the world.  Well, for sure it will be organized better next time, but we need only 1 person in charge, not 6.  At least we’re getting more people there, and they did stay to watch Together Forever, afterward. I was all bawling.  How in the world am I going to talk to people if I’ve got tears, streaming down my face, and my eyes are as red as a tomato?  I learned!  I’ve never been able to control my tears, but it ended up not affecting my teaching, luckily.

Ok, back up.  Yesterday was zone conference.  It was so cool! President and Sister Swensen are so cool.  It was also President Swensen’s birthday today, but we celebrated it yesterday, kind of.  As part of zone conference, everyone went down to the field in p-day clothes, and played ultimate frisbee.  I missed it though, because I had to call and see if I could make an appointment a little later, and well, pretty much I got x’d.  It was with Julanda. I was so sad. She wants to give the Book of Mormon back. She said she “has her own way to Christ”. The problem is that her way doesn’t lead to Christ.  Man, I know she knows the Book of Mormon is true. Well, we’ll meet with her again, and try to change her mind.

Then I got this awesome letter from my mom.  Pretty much she just babbled, but that’s what I like.  I got a better detailed description of Kim and Brian’s wedding than I did of Merilee and Chris’.  Plus, I heard how all of my friends are doing. Amy and Rich had a baby girl. Danny, Greg, and Brandon live together in a mobile home, and Clay, Clay, Greg, and Rex have a band.  Clay’s hair is orange, Danny’s is yellow, and Jason G came down for the wedding. Everyone is still having a great time.

There was a baptism at home, of one of Dad’s friend’s wife.  Same old babysitter problems with Bob and Lisa. Plus, they had a big stake temple day.  Mom went to 3 sessions. That is so awesome! Man, I’m almost jealous. But, I’m so glad I’m here.  Oh, more big news. President Kempton is being released and we’re getting a new stake president. I can’t wait to find out who it is.

Then she sent a little happy birthday at the end, that made me cry.  So, this was such a cool letter, that I had to read it, and I missed the ultimate game.  Oh well!

Katja came to the conference yesterday.  Poor girl is having a hard time right now.  Man, just finding people to trust is hard sometimes.  I’m trying to be a friend to her, as well as a missionary.  She’s so awesome, though. She wrote me a letter yesterday, and gave me a friendship bracelet.  It was really cool. She amazes me more and more everyday. Her biggest wish right now is just to be a better member.  That’s an awfully cool thing to hear from an 18 year old girl. She’s being a great help to the missionaries too. I can’t wait, she asked us to go visit her Saturday, so we’re gonna go up to Kranj and set up the personal progress program with her.  It should be awesome, and I think that is just what she needs right now.

Oh, I got to the church yesterday for conference, and there was a little package with my name on it.  Yay! Inside was a new journal. Sister Mix must’ve sent it down with President. She knew I needed one, but I forgot to give her money for it.  She is so awesome! Then today I hear she sent down a referral from a lady she talked to on the train. Awesome!

Ok, now for today.  It all started with Maja.  I was so scared, because we were teaching the rest of the 4th, Word of Wisdom and Law of Chastity.  Holy cow, she almost fell out of her chair. It’s like we hit her with a ton of bricks. It does mean a complete change for her life.  She was really funny. The sex thing almost killed her, then she almost begged for beer. It was so cute. She loved the fruits, veggies, and grains, but we will definitely be bringing her some gum Thursday for the cigarettes.  Well, she wouldn’t exactly commit, but she did say she’d pray about it. Man, she’s got to get her answer. I know this is going to be a big, hard change, but I also know she can do it. I don’t know about this week, but for sure soon.

We also visited Mateja today.  She is so much better. She gets to go back to school next week.  We are going to meet with her more, finish the discussions, and then do them over again.  I want to start Personal Progress with her, too, after we finish the discussions the 1st time around.  After that was our winner English class, and now we’re finding out if we can go to Bled tomorrow. Holy cow!  It’s 10pm already! I have some major letters to write tomorrow. I don’t know when, but it’s gonna get done.
